Why does Coworks need my location?
Coworks uses your device's location to detect when you're near your coworking space's entrance, so the app can enable the door unlock button in the app. If location access is turned off, the unlock button may not appear or may not work correctly, since the app can't confirm you're nearby.
You only need to allow location while using the app — Coworks doesn't need to track your location in the background, since you unlock the door yourself by tapping the button when you arrive.
If you tapped "Don't Allow" or "Deny" the first time the app asked, you won't automatically be prompted again — you'll need to turn it on manually in your phone's settings using the steps below.
How to enable location access on iPhone (iOS)
From your Home Screen, open the Settings app.
Scroll down and tap Coworks.
Tap Location.
Select While Using the App. This is all Coworks needs — you don't need to choose "Always."
If you'd like Coworks to identify your exact building rather than a general area, turn on Precise Location.
Reopen the Coworks app. It should now be able to use your location without asking again.
How to enable location access on Android
Open your device's Settings app.
Tap Apps (this may be labeled Apps & notifications depending on your device).
Find and tap Coworks in the app list.
Tap Permissions, then tap Location.
Select Allow only while using the app. This is all Coworks needs — there's no reason to choose "Allow all the time."
Go back to the main Settings menu and tap Location to confirm your device's overall location service is turned on. If this master switch is off, Coworks won't be able to access your location even with app permission granted.
Reopen the Coworks app to confirm everything is working.
Menu names may vary by device
Exact wording and menu structure can differ slightly between phone manufacturers (Samsung, Pixel, etc.) and OS versions. If you don't see a setting exactly as described above, try searching your device's Settings app directly for "Coworks."
Still not working?
If you've enabled location access and Coworks still isn't detecting your location correctly:
Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or have a strong cellular signal — location accuracy can suffer with a weak connection.
Try closing and reopening the app after changing the permission.
If the issue continues, try deleting and reinstalling the app — see How to Troubleshoot the Coworks App Not Opening for steps.
Confirm you're on the latest version of the app by going to the app store and updating if necessary.
